Narrativity at CONvergence

Our own Peggy M. reports in from CONvergence 2026:

If it’s the weekend of July 4th in Minneapolis, that means it’s CONvergence time. This year, the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis hosted four days of fandom under the theme “The Geek in the Machine.”

Narrativity regular Kate Dane appeared on four panels and ran the Laminated Bookmarks event at Connie’s Quantum Sandbox. The Historical European Fencing demonstration drew a large crowd for good reason. The Book Swap was an oasis of calm in the midst of a very busy event.

We were lucky enough to get a room at the con hotel. The long elevator waits were remedied by good conversations. We did not take the D&D-themed roll-your-own pizza dare in the hotel restaurant, but the house-made chips were good.

We attended panels on Corvids in Folklore and Fantasy, Science Fantasy, and the shortcomings of AI (“Are the Luddites Right?”), among others. Questionable Choices and Double-Blind Improv were hilarious. The Cirque Informatique entertained us with aerialists, dancers, a juggler, and a glass walker. The cosplayers, as always, delivered–great photo ops and a few fandoms that were new to us.

The Dealers Room and Artists Alley were, as ever, a highlight. We came home with several books and a labradorite ring. The Late-Night Music Circle capped off our last evening perfectly.

We handed out Narrativity cards and put up flyers. We hope to see you all at Narrativity 2027!

Thanks, Peggy! And if you’re one of the folks who spotted a flyer or picked up a card, don’t forget to subscribe to the Narrativity website and sign up for the mailing list to keep up on all the latest developments, including when Narrativity 2027 registration opens!
